Your local Women’s Institute has been very busy over the last few months.
Our meeting nights are always very friendly with a variety of activities and speakers. At our meeting on May 14th we had someone from the Great North Air Ambulance talk to us about the history and background of the organisation and incredible service they provide. In June we have a fun evening planned with a belly dancing demonstration, come along and have a go. Our ladies have taken part in many and varied workshops and visits. There are more workshops planned at W.I. house in Spennymoor including Dorset Buttons, Photography, Crochet and Flower arranging.
There is always a lot going on within the county including darts competitions and quizzes and other social events. Some of our ladies attended the St George’s Day Dinner and had a great time.
Within our own W.I. we have had very enjoyable trips to the theatre, with more planned, as well as other excursions including a day trip to Edinburgh by train in November.
We are also out and about in the community and we had a stall at the Petting Zoo in the leisure centre where we served tea and coffee and sold lots of delicious homemade sandwiches, pies, cakes and biscuits.
Your WI meets at St Clare’s church hall at 7pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Come along ladies and make new friends.
