Your local W.I. members have been very active over the last few months. We have had some interesting and entertaining speakers at our meetings. Coming up on February 11th we have a talk called Enigma or a great puzzle? A story of bravery and courage. On March 10th we will hold our annual silent auction, a chance to donate unwanted goods to raise funds for our W.I. and on April 14th we have the ever popular Chris Lloyd from The Northern Echo to talk about Lewis Carroll’s Croft connection.

Alongside the monthly meeting we have also enjoyed a varied programme of excursions and taken part in activities involving other W.I. members in the County Durham Federation. These include quizzes, lunches and coffee mornings. A recent addition to these activities is walking netball, which takes place on Mondays at 10am in Newton Aycliffe leisure centre. A fun activity for all abilities.

There is also a lot going on at W.I. house in Spennymoor, home of Durham federation. Our ladies have attended lots of different workshops and regular self help craft groups. We have learned crochet, sugarcraft, flower arranging, scone making, and many more. Coming up there are more scone making, chigiri vase decorating and iris folding techniques to make beautiful cards. There are also other activities coming up including darts, poetry, drama, and kurling. A very varied programme with something for everyone.

The W.I. is very welcoming, a place to meet new friends and have some fun with old ones.

Your W.I. meets at St. Clare’s Church Hall at 7pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Come along ladies and make new friends.
