A new Taekwondo class is to start at the Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on a Thursday evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm.

The class will specialise in Korean Martial Art, with Korean Instructor – Master Kim. Master Kim is 7th Dan Hapkido Instructor and 6th Dan Taekwondo instructor.

Kim has taught self defence around the world including to the Durham Police force for many years.

The benefits of learning Taekwondo are improving health, building confidence, learning self defence, flexibility all in a family friendly environment.

Master Kim also has an established Hapkido class at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on Tuesdays from 6.30 to 8.00pm, where anybody can start at any time, however the Taekwondo class is new as it has just recently started.

Master Kim Beom

The President and Chief Instructor of the Duk Moo Academy in the UK, and the Director and Official Representative of the Korea Hapkido Federation in the UK, is Grandmaster Kim Duk In’s son, Master Kim Beom.

He has studied Korean Mudo for over 35 years and has held special seminars or demonstrations throughout the UK and the world, including in Korea, France, Morocco, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Panama and Belgium.

In particular, Master Kim has extensive knowledge and experience within the self-defence field:

• Taught Hapkido at a Korean Police Academy;

• Taught Taekwondo to Air Force troops;

• Helped establish the Duk Moo Academy in France;

• Black Belt Instructor and Technical Advisor to the World Hwarang TaekwonMudo Academy;

• Taught Hapkido to the Police Nationale’s RAID Special Police Force in France;

• Invited by the French Police to give demonstrations;

• Taught Korean Mudo throughout Morocco;

• Taught Hapkido at various locations around the UK;

• Established the UK Branch of the Duk Moo Academy and the Korea Hapkido Federation.

Master Kim is truly dedicated to promoting Korean Mudo in the UK and continues to work hard everyday to promote the UK’s potential and its reputation around the world. Master Kim has been in England for over 15 years and has successfully organised many prestigious national and international events in the north-east.
