The new and exciting Woodham Dance Academy opened its doors to primary schools from all over Aycliffe, Ferryhill and Chilton last month, inviting children of all ages to come along and enjoy dancing with one another.

The Academy is for ages 4-11 years and is split into 2 groups. The infants dance class is on Tuesdays from 5pm-6pm (term time only). Here they have begun to learn basic dance steps and how to work with new rhythms and music. The group are currently working on a routine which they will perform at the annual Woodham Academy Show next year. The Dance Academy focuses on creating a fun and exciting environment where the children enjoy making new friends, play lots of games and learn how to dance.

A Parent said: “It’s fantastic, my daughter can’t wait to come back each week. The enthusiasm from the staff and the ‘no pressure’ environment is what makes the Academy so much fun while still been educational!”

For the older group the class takes place at the earlier time of 4.30pm – 6pm every Wednesday (term time only). This is because the junior group have the opportunity to work with older students and staff from Woodham Academy for the first half hour, before breaking off into the Junior group.

Here the children begin to learn more complicated dance steps and put together routines. All children are invited to attend Woodham Dance Academy and we would love to see some new faces.
