A new “Nia” fitness classes is being taught at Woodham Community Centre on Thursdays at 3.30 p.m. and it lasts an hour.
Nia is a low-impact workout blending dance, Tai Chi, Yoga and other dance, healing and martial arts and is suitable for any age, shape, size or level of fitness.
Regular practice has both physical and mental health benefits. No experience or special equipment is needed . Steps are easy to follow and are danced barefoot to inspiring music from around the world
Being low impact and suitable for anyone, it’s proving very popular with the over 45’s, although it is not aimed specifically at any age group. Nia is still fairly new in the North East and Anne Cosgrove is one of only two teachers in the area. Classes are £4 pay as you go, or £20 for a six-class card.
