Age UK County Durham is thrilled with the success of their new lunch club at the Oakleaf Sports Complex held on the 1st Friday of the month at 11.00am. For £5 people get an hour to try an appropriate activity with support from a dedicated instructor, followed by lunch chosen from the menu.
Louise Haymer, Development Worker with Come Eat Together said “Everyone has told me how much they enjoy trying something new. Last month we played indoor bowls and one gentleman is now joining the club at the centre. We also tried gentle archery and table tennis. It is informal and friendly – a great chance to make new friends.”
Menu choices include mince and Yorkshire pudding, Cumberland sausage, fish and chips and corned beef pie with vegetarian options available. There is plenty of time to socialise after lunch with a cuppa afterwards.
The next session takes place on 11.00am on Friday 5 February. For more information and to book your place please contact Come Eat Together on 0191 374 6577 or e-mail cet@ageukcountydurham.org.uk.
