Great Aycliffe Indoor Bowls Club were in action recently in the Durham & District Inter Club Triples League.
This newly formed league is run by Ken Tait from Ferryhill I.B.C and comprises teams from Great Aycliffe, Ferryhill, Spennymoor, Durham and Chester le Street. The format of the  league is three rinks of triples and is open to both male and female bowlers.
After suffering heavy defeats in their opening two games Aycliffe took on a strong team from Park View at their Oak Leaf Sports Centre base.
The visitors were looking to take advantage of Aycliffe’s slow start to the season by taking maximum points and take over top spot.
They found the home side in excellent form however and were soundly beaten 6-2.
Home skips R Jones and P Whittaker won their games comfortably and in doing so won by sufficient shots to claim the points for the overall aggregate score.
C Chapman for the visitors rescued two points with a win over home skip McDonald.
Final scores (Aycliffe first)   Jones 26-7 Thompson, Whittaker 20-9 Herbert, McDonald 5-14 Chapman.
