Young people are being given the chance to have a go at one of the latest exercise crazes when free-running sessions come to County Durham.
“Parkour”, the art of using effective and efficient jumps, vaults, climbing and swinging to conquer obstacles, is similar to the popular free-running sport which has seen a surge in popularity recently and improves strength and endurance as well as teaching patience and persistence.
New sessions for 11 to 18-year-olds will be delivered by Apeuro in partnership with Durham County Council in three locations across County Durham.
Sessions will be taught in a safe and secure environment for beginners and will teach young people how to practice the sport safely. Durham County Council has secured Sportivate funding, a London 2012 legacy project, to deliver the sessions throughout County Durham.
Sessions start this month lasting for eight weeks:
Thursday, 30th January, Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, 5.00pm until 6.00pm.
It’s £1.50 per session at each of the three venues.
To indicate your interest in attending the sessions or for any further information please contact 07904 197861.
