The new ‘Colour your Life’ creative and learning courses are now underway at the Pioneering Care Centre.
Colour your Life is a ‘social prescribing’ service funded by Durham County Council Public Health. ‘Social prescribing’ is a health service term for the linking of people with non-medical sources of support from within the community.
PCP use professional, experienced tutors who deliver artistic and informal learning activities whilst providing opportunities for friendship in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
The courses aim to unlock the skills and talents of local people and raise awareness of the assets in our local communities that keep us well.
Places available for:
• Family art sessions Thursday, 4pm-5.30pm
• Jewellery making course for adults  Monday, 1.30pm-3.30pm
Up and coming courses include creative writing, gardening, cooking and an introduction to holistic therapies.
This new and exciting service aims to provide access to enjoyable activities for the improvement of mental health and the development of emotional resilience.  The service is open to referrals from GP’s, mental health services, third sector/community organisations and agencies, informally by family members or friends, and by self-referral.
