Hello to everyone reading the Newton News.
Another busy week for the Aycliffe Neighbourhood Team.
On Monday, a vehicle near Neville Parade Shops was seized with the PCSO’s and neighbourhood wardens working together. The insecure vehicle was a fire hazard and full of needles and drug paraphernalia and also causing an obstruction to the residents in that area.
On Tuesday, the Sergeant and PCSO’S attended Sugar Hill Primary School to do talks on Anti-Social Behaviour, Cyber Bullying, Bullying and Crime and Consequences. It was great for the team to get into the school and really break the barrier between students and police. Also thanks to Sugar Hill for the extra pudding, not that I need it!!
On Wednesday, PCSO Button had an attachment with the safeguarding department with the hopes that the knowledge she gains will be passed onto the team for us to safeguard the wider community.
On Friday, the beat officers were called over to the protest which was taking place at Amazon in Darlington where were multiple arrests.
Storm Arwen also took its toll with officers helping with lots of road related incidents. But the snow really set the scene for Saturday.
THE CHRISTMAS GROTTO! On Saturday, the Police Christmas Grotto was in full swing from 10-4 with hundreds of people coming to see Santa then waiting around to see the Christmas light switch on with Sara Davies. Thanks to the generosity of the public Community Spirit and the Police managed to raise £490 for multiple charities across Aycliffe.
On Sunday, an adult male was arrested for Child Neglect after being seen riding an off-road quad at speed with a child on the front. The consequences of the rider’s actions could have catastrophic.
The beat team remain vigilant to anti-social behaviour and off-road bikes in the area and robust action will always be taken against those responsible.
