Newton Aycliffe Scout Supporters Association would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported our fund-raising throughout 2016. We would especially like to thank members for using our social club and supporting our events. Lesley from Clearance Bargains of Darlington for the donation of new TV for our lounge, 1st Newton Aycliffe Scout Group for supporting us at a number of functions, The Northern Bygones Society – who hold a classic car show here,  Newton News for promoting our activities, the live bands and singers who have entertained us, and last but not least all of the people who have given their time and expertise, free of charge, running, repairing, maintaining and improving the Centre. We are now planning for 2017 and hope everyone keeps on supporting this worthy cause. The Association is ‘not for profit’ and ALL the money raised is used to run and maintain the Scout Centre which is used by up to 100 young people each week, providing them with fun, life skills and a place to meet people and learn invaluable lessons for their future.

There are now three Scouting/ Guiding groups using the premises, 1st Newton Aycliffe Scout Group, 1st Baden Powell Scout Group and 8th Newton Aycliffe Rainbows so our premises are in use every night during the week. We would love the parents, of the young people who use the centre, to join our social club and support us in keeping the premises open for all to enjoy. Our Social club is a members club but non – members are welcome to call in for a drink or a game of pool and if you like what you find, membership is only £3 a year. We put on events throughout the year and non – members are welcome to attend these. A number of events are being planned – the first of these is on 18th March when a fantastic local band METIS will be appearing at 7:00pm. Tickets are £3, available on the door’ so come along and hear this fab local band. The hall is available to hire for meetings, private parties etc., at a very reasonable cost and our licensed bar sells a range of drinks to make your party enjoyable for all.

PHOTOS WANTED Does anyone have any old photos of the Centre in its early days? A lady has contacted me to ask if we have any photos, as her Dad Alan Wright and his wife Enid were involved with the association at the very beginning helping to raise the initial funding to build the centre.  Unfortunately Alan is not in the best of health and his daughter would love to show him some pictures. If anyone can help please contact Karen 01325 318901, and leave a message. Or you can contact me on Facebook Newton Aycliffe Scout Supports Association.
