Following the great success of our last two “Music and Mince Pies” concerts, the Andreas Ensemble is joined this year by Prince Bishops Brass, reputedly the finest brass quintet in the North East, and Brian Tanner on our fine church organ, to present, in conjunction with Bishop Auckland Music Society, a varied programme of Christmas Music with something for everybody in St. Andrew’s, South Church, Bishop Auckland on Friday 6th December at 7.30 pm.
This Christmas, choir, brass and organ are performing together a number of well-loved pieces including Bach’s masterpiece the 5-part motet “Jesu meine Freude”, 8-part pieces in Venetian style by Gabrieli, Praetorius and Schütz for choir and brass, “West Gallery” carols, with some favourite seasonal choir pieces and carols with brass fanfares for our audience to join in.
The brass programme features the famous Samuel Barber Adagio and arrangements of popular Christmas melodies which everyone will recognise and enjoy. Tickets £12.50 include a glass of wine and seasonal refreshments in the Interval. Young people 18 and under free of charge.
