Mothering Sunday is special in many a way,
For the woman who cared from our very first day.
Who gave us hugs and wiped our tears,
Helped dispel our childhood fears.
Welcomed friends to share a meal,
Cared when teenage doubts we did feel.
Gave us confidence when times were hard,
And so today, a gift and a card,
Are the least we can do,
To thank the woman who saw us through,
So many of life’s good times and bad,
This year has lost so many mums – (and dads.)
Please pray today for those who feel sad.
Give thanks if your Mum you soon can meet.
Face to face, won’t that be a treat?
Lockdown has shown us how much we value our mum.
Even if her home-schooling wasn’t much fun!
