Rose Lodge Care Home on Carers Way, Cobblers Lane in Newton Aycliffe were delighted when activities coordinator Diane Tweddle was nominated for ‘Most Innovative Activity Programme of the Year’ for the North East Region in the MMCG Countrywide Care Home of the Year Awards which were due to be held at the Leeds Armouries in June 2020.

The awards were created to acknowledge the efforts of staff and the impact they have on the lives of residents and their families. Residents, colleagues, relatives and visitors place a vote and a finalist is chosen from each region.

Nicki Wheatley, Home Manager at Rose Lodge Care Home, said, “I am absolutely delighted that Diane has been chosen to be a finalist for the region and representing Rose Lodge. Diane would be a very deserving winner of this award as she has completely changed the activities programme at the home and the community involvement and support for Rose Lodge has became a huge part of our residents lives. Our residents always look forward to seeing Diane when she is on shift and she brightens up the home”.

The awards which, will be announced via a live video link from Head Office, are due to take place in August and the home will celebrate with afternoon tea with the residents.
