Although Brexit is an important issue in the forthcoming election, I think, regardless of how people voted in the referendum, there is more at stake. We need to consider what kind of society we want and which party is best to deliver this. I know that those people advocating a Brexit, at any cost to jobs and the standard of living for ordinary people, want this to be a one issue election. But we have to think about what kind of government we elect to run the country for the next five years. Do we want a Johnson government, a member of the party whose austerity laid waste to our public services. Propped up by a right wing Farage party, who, by his own admission, does not believe in a national health service that is free for all but an insurance contribution system. Johnson cannot be trusted, he says one thing and does another, and he, along with Farage, wants this to be a single issue. Or do we want a government that provides a fair society with properly funded public services where everyone contributes and works in the interests of everyone? I want the latter, and to me the party best placed to deliver this is Labour.
