“After the very successful Autumn Beer Festival, The Turbinia, Newton Aycliffe, has now installed new cellar and dispensing equipment, so we will always have a minimum of three ales on the bar (4 on peak times).
Choice of will reflect the pub policy of a 50/50 split of locals and national ales, constantly changing, and mainly craft, with prices starting at £2-50.
So far this year we have sold 132 different beers from 81 breweries, bringing the customers, ales from as far afield as the Scottish highlands, Welsh mountains, Cornish coast & Ferryhill Station (honest). We also stock a full range of bottled beers from Aycliffe’s own ‘Steam Machine Brewing Company‘
Beer Festivals remain important to us, and next years are already arranged for the end of April & October, sticking with our successful format of large choice of ales, and FREE music all weekend from some of the top entertainment in the region. An extra event for us will be our first ‘Cider & Comedy Festival’ in July, featuring ‘Stand Up Sunday’ a full afternoon of laughter with some of the greatest comics on the circuit, stars of stage and screen.
This week we were very proud to host a Darlington Campaign For Real Ale branch meeting, one of only a few meetings held outside Darlington, which shows how highly regarded the Turbinia is for the quality of its cask ales. If you haven’t been yet, give us a try, we are sure you will enjoy the visit.
Friday is Open-Mic/ Buskers, showcasing some great local talent, Saturday is rock night with the best bands from all over the North-East, Sunday is Karaoke, your turn to entertain. We have darts, cheap pool table and the best jukebox on the town. For the footie fans, we show more football than any other venue. So what are you waiting for?
