Dear Sir,
Having no political affiliations, I simply vote for the party/individual who I believe are best for the region and nation as a whole.
However, I am extremely disappointed to learn that our local MP (Paul Howell), having been given the opportunity to overturn the government’s decision to suspend the ‘Triple Lock Guarantee’, voted against The Lords Amendment.
His reasoning is based on cost, which in my opinion is negligible, considering the £68.5 billion in handouts for the job retention scheme (furlough), along with the additional £20 a week for people on qualifying benefits (with the exception of pensioners).
Once again, the older generation are considered dispensable and insignificant by the current Government – by breaking their manifesto promise, the Conservatives have confirmed what we all suspected, in that there are no ethics or moral principles in politics.
