On Saturday 2nd December, Ruby Grainger (aged 11) from Newton Aycliffe led the St. Nicolas Lantern Parade in Durham City as part of her Mini Police duties.

Ruby is in her second year of duty for the Durham Mini Police and has attended many events throughout the County, including forming a guard of honour when HRH Princess Anne visited the area.

On Saturday she was chosen along with another mini police officer to escort Sue Snowdon the Lord Lieutenant and the High Sheriff Mrs Peacock as they led the lantern parade through the city of Durham up to the Cathedral.

As part of the Service at the Cathedral, Ruby assisted the Lord Lieutenant in presenting PC Craig Johnson with a certificate of appreciation for all his hard work with the mini police service.
