Brian Hall
It is with sadness that we note the passing of Brian Hall, a true friend and supporter of Middridge.
Pre-1982 Brian and Tommy Bennet were elected councillors on Shildon Town Council, to represent Middridge which then came within the Shildon Parish Boundary.
In 1982, with the support of the then Sedgefield District Council, Middridge was encouraged to become a separate Parish.
Brian became a member of the steering group along with Tommy Bennet, Anne Clark, Wally Mellors and John Watt who put forward a bid for Middridge to become a separate Parish.
This was successful, and in 1983 Middridge Parish came into being with Brian Hall being elected as one of our five Parish Councillors. He served as Chairman on three separate occasions,1984-85, 1989-90 and 1993-94.
Brian eventually decided to stand down from Middridge Parish Council to concentrate more on Great Aycliffe Town Council.
During his time on Middridge Parish Council his experience made him a valued member of the team for many years.
Brian was also involved with the Middridge Village Hall Committee together with myself and other valued members of the community and it was he and his wife Thelma who freely provided the fabric and made up the curtains for the village hall windows, plus, while they had the furnishing business in Aycliffe, he could always be relied upon to provide a prize for the annual Village Fete Raffle.
Middridge Parish offers its sincere condolences to the family and wish to remind our residents of the involvement he had in Middridge
