Visiting the Majestic Theatre in Darlington for the first time last week to see the touring MHT Show was quite an experience. The former Odeon Cinema  has been transformed offering an alternative venue to the Civic Theatre for local and touring entertainment groups, both professional and amateur. The Theatre has a bar, a large stage and very comfortable tiered seating. The sound and lighting provided is of a very high standard. The MHT show was well received last Friday night and the performers, three drag artistes and two male dancers, received fantastic applause from an appreciative audience. It was funny, and very cleverly produced with amazing costume changes throughout the performance, and lots of audience participation. A couple of men on the front row were targeted by the man dressed up as a woman with amusing and at times embarrassing innuendo. Paul Carroll known as “Mrs T”  led the show and is a very talented comedian, dancer and musician who started performing at the age of three. He has been the creative driving force behind Musical Hall Tavern for 20 years and has great support from Paul Burnham and Grant Koper along with back stage team. The one night Show was produced by Geoff Hindmarch of Newton Aycliffe formerly of the Aycliffe Operatic Society and Showcase Entertainments International who along with his late Mother Val, have run lots of successful productions in Aycliffe and beyond. Geoffrey is Tour director for MHT in the UK who already have a very busy 2017 season covering the whole country. To the credit of this small company in just 2 years they have raised 100,000 Euros for Macmillan Cancer Support from donors who attend their show.
