Dear Sir,

I work for an amazing charity called Mental Health Matters and I am based at the local CMHT – Goodall Centre in Bishop Auckland, we cover South Durham, Sedgefield, Trimdons, Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Newton Aycliffe and as far as Crook and Tow Law.

We support people suffering with or who have had an episode of mental ill health but who are on a journey of recovery and looking for something vocationally to do with their time – this can include retraining, education, volunteering, and for some, eventually getting into paid employment.

We also provide retention support for people in work but having time off sick due to mental health and wanting support to go back to work and are finding the employer less than accommodating.

We mainly receive referrals from CMHT and G.P. Practice’s (although the latter is very few) and more recently, from local job centres/work coaches. We have also had meetings with other local providers such as Well-Being for Life who provide health advice and sign-posting.

We can help with:

• Recovery Action Plans

• Completing Vocational Assessments

• Confidence Building

• Personal Development

• Skill Building

• Accessing Work Placements

• Finding Training and Qualifications

• CV and Cover Letter Skills

• Job Searching

• Finding Paid Employment

• Support to Stay in Work

• Skills to Complete Application Forms

• Advice with Interview Techniques

• Signposting to Other Agencies

• Information on Welfare Benefits.
