Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club made the short trip to Bishop Auckland last weekend where Wear Valley Swimming Club were hosting their Autumn gala. The ten swimmers excelled as they came back with no fewer than 51 medals and 28 personal bests collectively.

Zoe Hodgson swam ten races covering all four strokes and achieved PBs in five of them including an amazing 5.5 seconds in her 100m freestyle earning her the silver medal. Zoe also took bronze in the 100m individual medley.

Tom Curran was one of five swimmers to complete a 100% medal return winning three golds (50, 100, 200m freestyle) and four silvers (50, 100, 200m backstroke & 50m butterfly), improving his PBs in four of them.

Filip Wilczynski also took a clean sweep with 7 golds (50, 100, 200m backstroke, 50, 100m butterfly, 50, 100m breaststroke) and 3 silvers (50, 100 , 200m freestyle). Filip clocked six PBs including two massive >10 seconds in 100m freestyle and butterfly.

Charlie McEwan got three out of four PBs, the largest coming in the 200m freestyle at almost five seconds bringing him gold. It was gold again in the 50m backstroke, silver in 100m backstroke and bronze for 50m butterfly.

James Hodgson took over a second from his already impressive 100m freestyle PB earning silver, it was silver again in 100m backstroke and bronze for 50m freestyle.

Kathryn Lee competed in an individual medley for the first time and won gold. She also won gold in 200m backstroke, silver in 50m backstroke and bronze in 50m freestyle and butterfly and 100m backstroke.

Charlotte Lee set two new breaststroke PBs, both earning medals, silver over 200m and bronze in the 50m.

Mateusz Wilczynski had a good competition, achieving five PBs out of his nine races. Golds in 400m freestyle and 200m backstroke, silvers in 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly & freestyle and 50m backstroke, and bronze at 50m freestyle and breaststroke.

Matthew Wimbury took silver in 50m freestyle with a new PB, silver in 50m breaststroke and bronze in 50m backstroke, 100m breastroke and 100m individual medley.

Katelyn Craig won gold at 100 and 200m butterfly, silver in the 50m of the same event and silver in 50m freestyle.

Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club are based at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre operating three levels of swimming squads.
