The Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Wendy Hillary, hosted a Charity Golf Day at the Oakleaf Golf Complex on Friday, 5th September 2014.
The event was a success with an amount  of £527.46 being raised for the Mayor’s nominated charities which are the County Durham School Benevolent Fund and Cruse Bereavement Care.
The Mayor would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors and supporters of the day, namely: Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club, Don Walker Butchers, E.W. Knapton (Insurance) Ltd., Newton Press/Newton News, Heineken UK, Sabre Rail Services Ltd., Great Aycliffe Town Council, Gregg Little Testing Centre, Ellies Pies, Julie Welch (OakLeaf Golf Manager).
The hospitality tent at the 6th tee was well received and the Mayor would like to thank fellow Councillors Val Raw, Sarah Iveson and Malcolm Iveson for helping with the organisation of the refreshments.
Presentations and dinner were held at The Oakleaf Sports Complex Function Room. Winners of the competition this year were ‘Big Club Golf’ who were presented with the Annual Golf trophy which had been donated by Hydro Polymers in 2003.
