Newton Aycliffe FC begin the new Northern League season on Saturday 8th August with a home fixture against current champions Marske. Before the game, League Chairman Mike Amos will be welcomed to Newton Aycliffe by our Mayor, Councillor Mary Dalton.
Mr Amos is starting his final season as chairman and has decided to undertake a sponsored walk to each of the Northern League’s 44 grounds to mark the occasion.
Aycliffe are delighted that Mike has chosen to visit us for our first home game and are hoping for a good turnout to support both the team & also the ‘Last Legs Challenge’. Half of every penny raised will go to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation – the Northern League and its clubs had few better friends than Sir Bobby. The other half, in £1,000 segments, will be given to community-based charities nominated by the league’s clubs and drawn at the annual league dinner in May 2016. Further details on the fundraising effort can be found on the League website at http://www.northerleague.org
Meanwhile Peter Dixon’s team have undergone a rigorous training regime in the build up to the season and will be hoping that hard work brings results on the pitch.
Kick off for the game will be at 3:00pm at Moore Lane Park. Admission is £6 adults, £4 concessions. Season tickets are available for £100/ £60.
Meanwhile Sports Club members will be able to enjoy even more football in the clubhouse now that BT Sport has been added to the Sky package.  With both live non-league and TV Premiership football available at Moore Lane on the pitch and in the club there is every reason to get along there and enjoy our national sport.
