The Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Ken Robson and the Mayoress Elaine Robson joined the congregation at St Clare’s Church Newton Aycliffe on Sunday 30th April for a service of commemoration for the Coronation of King Charles III.
Civic Dignitaries from Shildon, Sedgefield, Ferryhill, City of Durham, Hartlepool and Durham County Council also attended.
Revd. Stephanie Price led the proceedings, which also included music from the Durham Police Band, plus the Air Cadets standard bearers heading the procession.
The Mayor said, “It was pleasing to see a full church including local Councillors from all parties and a congregation from across our fantastic town.”
“Led by my good friend Curate Stephanie Price, it was a wonderful service beginning with the presenting of the flag by our magnificent air cadets who looked fantastic in their uniforms and with musical backing from Durham Police band I believe we were all a little overcome by the occasion.”
“I would like to thank all of our clergy for an unforgettable morning which was really uplifting and of course I am also very grateful to those ladies who are unseen heroes in the kitchen.”
