Residents in County Durham are reminded that they must be on the electoral register in order to vote in the forthcoming Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections.
The PCC election for the Durham police area will be held on Thursday 5 May. Poll cards will be delivered to those who are already registered between Friday 1 April and Monday 4 April. Poll cards will provide details of where you should vote.
Anyone who is not registered to vote is encouraged to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by Monday 18 April.
Registered electors can also request a postal or proxy vote.
The deadline for applying for a postal vote in the PCC election is 5pm on Tuesday 19 April. Applications for a proxy vote in the PCC election must be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday 26 April.
