The Madathlon team headed to the Lake District on Saturday 2nd July for a weekend hiking up mountains in their continued efforts to raise funds to buy defibrillators for local schools, gyms and sports clubs.
They faced unbelievably strong winds, rain and poor visibility on the first day at the top of Skiddaw but everyone pushed on and and completed the hike. The second day the team tackled the highest peak in England, Scafell Pike.
Ending with the mighty Helvellyn on the third day, luckily the weather improved by then and we were rewarded with a stunning view from the summit.
It was a challenging and enjoyable weekend. A huge well done to the team, James Caygill, Emma Woodall, Melissa Outterson, Edd Gardiner and Helen Richardson who joined us for Scafell. And a special mention for Gayle Gardiner and Harry for looking after us at base camp.
There are more events coming up including the c2c 140 mile bike ride, a channel distance relay swim at ellerton lake, kielder run bike run and Melissa taking on her first 10k run, also at kielder.
As always everyone at Madathlon is so grateful for everyone’s continued support, we can’t do what we do without you. For more information find Madathlon on Facebook and Twitter.
