On Sunday, 5th June, a team of eleven from Lucite, a speciality polymers and resins manufacturer, based on Horndale Avenue, completed the Race For Life in Darlington. With cancer affecting so many people either directly or indirectly, it was felt this was a great cause to support.
Some of our participants commented: “It was a great day and was especially nice that three of our children completed the course.
I’ve loved training with my kids and on the day was beaten by both my son and daughter” said Clare Wheeler. “Since we decided to compete, there has been a real buzz, choosing our outfits & comparing training notes. I’m sure we’ll be back” said Olwen Perkins.
“It’s really made a difference to all of us. I’ve got more energy to play with my children” said Yvonne West. The whole business has got behind the team with nearly everyone making a donation and helping to raise £1500 with more donations still coming in. Denise Stones, who hadn’t run since school, is looking forward to next year already saying: “I walked it this time, but I’m going to run it with my son next time and be the first Lucite lady home!”
