Lost The Way

Dear Hoomans,

As I perused my copy of the Newton News last week, I saw my own contribution was buried under a mountain of shouty letters about ‘Rex-sit’. It seems some hoomans want Rex to sit inside, and some want him to sit outside. Personally, I think it’s up to Rex where he sits.

It reminded me of my great Uncle Rex. Uncle Rex travelled around Europe with a circus, he was a clever fella, he was the first dog ever to ride a unicycle, but he really got the job on account of having two heads.

Mostly his heads got on with each other, but there was one time when he’d been out for the night and was making his way back to the circus and he came to a point in the road which branched off three different ways. One of his heads wanted to take the road to the right, the other wanted to take the road to the left and neither would give in.

Uncle Rex sat there arguing with himself till sunset, by which time he was hungry, thirsty and very cross. Both heads realized that to get home in time for dinner they would have to compromise, so they finally agreed to be adult about it and take the middle road, so he did, and made his way home. Neither head was happy, but they knew they were both part of the same dog and had to find a way forward together.

I told ‘Herself’ the story and she said it pretty much sums up the Rex-sit issue, and hoomans need to find a way forward that will do the least harm and move forward together. ‘Herself’ says the only party offering a compromise which is best for everyone is this ‘Labour Party’.

So, I reckon, if this other Rex wants to get home for his dinner, he should support this ‘Labour Party’, so all you hooman beens can all get along with each other again.

Also, if anyone finds a red rubber bone, its mine.

Mr Teddy Walter Moon.
