Newton Aycliffe Post Office is on the move to a nearby site where it will open as a new modern ‘main’ open-plan branch with significantly longer opening hours.
The move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
The new branch is at Young’s Newsagents, 66 Beveridge and will have a mixture of two open plan and two traditional screened counter positions with a Post Office serving point provided for use at the retail counter that is available to transact a wide range of Post Office services during shop opening hours.
Customers will also benefit from earlier morning opening hours and Sunday opening. The new opening hours will be 06:30 to 17.30 Monday to Saturday and 06.00 to 12.00 Sunday.
Post Office Regional Network Manager for Scotland and Northern England, Suzanne Richard-son, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Newton Aycliffe and we are confident that this new modern Post Office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
She added: “The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
