Northumberland & Durham Masters Championships.
On 1st July Caroline Saxby competed in the 50,100 and 400 Freestyle recording good times in all the events. Her back stroke had been going really well in training and swimming in the 100 set a British Record. She won the 25 to 29 age group. Gillian Hook competed in the 50 and 100 Freestyle and the 50 Breast and 50 Fly returning best times on all her swims. She won the 35 to 39 age group. Superb results from both swimmers

ESSA National Finals. Liverpool Aquatics Centre.
30th June\1st July Mathew Bradley was selected for the North Eastern Team and was Team Captain for his age group. He swam in the 200 Breaststroke and the 200 Individual Medley taking 4th place in the Breast and 3rd in the IM. His time in the IM was 2:18. A new best time. Mathew swam in the 4×100 Freestyle and Medley teams taking 3rd and 4th place. It’s back to training in preperation for the
Nationals at Sheffield later in the year.

On24th June Sam Dixon swam in the 800 Open Water event winning the boys age group silver medal and taking 4th place overall. Megan Baker swam in the 2 mile event taking 5th place in her age group and 11th overall.
Really good results from Sam and Megan considering the awful conditions and the very low water temperature.

ISA Independant Schools Association Gala.
Notting-ham 1st July. Sam Dixon swam in the 25 metre Fly and the 100 Individual Medley. He won gold medals in both events.
The Olympic Torch relay caused quite a stir within the swimming club with four members involved.
Lauren Richardson, Sam Dixon, Ross Landon and Angela Winstanley-Smith. Ross represented Great Britain as a Tri-Athlete and Angie was National Back Stroke Champion and swam for Great Britain before switching to Water Polo. Everyone in the club sends best wishes to Angie on her selection for the Water Polo team to compete in the Olympics.
