Everyone at Star Radio would to thank all the Newton News readers who took part in our Local Radio Day & Beefy Foundation charity auction on 27th May. What an exciting day we had; fantastic local content, interaction from our listeners and raising money for great local causes … also a huge thanks to all our ‘celebrity friends!’
The day started with Piers Morgan, Sir Ian Botham, Ian Ward & Philippa Tomson retweeting Sarah Botham’s tweet about Star Radio and the Beefy Foundation auction, reaching a whopping 9 million possible views. Followed by live interviews with Sir Ian Botham and his pals Graeme Swann, David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd, Michael Vaughan, David Gower, Steve Harmison, Michael Atherton and Graeme ‘Foxy’ Fowler. They all gave praise to Star Radio’s listeners, Star Giving and the Beefy Foundation. Michael Weadock, Star Radio presenter said he’d never interviewed as many ex England Captains in in life never mind in one day on one radio station!
We gave massive exposure to the Beefy Foundation and all the charities they support, of which we know the Botham family are very grateful. Not forgetting all the great local interviews, local bands, the banter between our stellar presenters, Louise trying to fight them to get the news out on time, the new branding launch and our partnership with Newton News…. what a fab day for all at Star!
