A local talented kart racer takes a trophy in the championship at Buckmore Park in Kent.
14 year old Luke Mason who lives in Newton Aycliffe and attends Woodham Academy, has ambitions of making a career out of motorsport racing. He has shown promising talent so far in the karting world and has gained trophies in both track karting and MSA racing as a novice, whilst ending 2013 as 49th in the World Sodi Junior Karting Championship.
Luke started racing at Buckmore Park early last year – his first season at this track. Unfortunately he missed the first race of the season, but after that he went from strength to strength placing him in the position of possibly taking third place in the junior championship by the final race. The final race was an exciting one which saw Luke starting his first heat second on the grid and after a great race managed to hold onto second place finishing closely behind the current World Sodi Karting Junior Champion. In the second heat of the day Luke started third on the grid and after a close fought race snatched the victory, whilst the third heat saw Luke fighting his way through the field from an 8th position start to finish second only 0.269 seconds behind the championship winner. The race final saw Luke starting third on the grid, but unfortunately a racing incident on the first corner left him in last place. However Luke was determined and after fighting his way through the field managed to claim third place on the podium – as well as elevating him to third position in the final championship standings – giving him two well-earned trophies to add to his growing collection. Luke was presented these trophies by Tom Ingram (currently racing in British Touring Cars) at a special award ceremony (picture above).
Luke is determined to succeed within motorsport being a passionate, talented driver who is committed to improving his racing skills and achieving future successes. Luke is looking to progress his career to the next level and is currently looking for sponsors to help him move forward in karting whilst keeping his eye on an ultimate goal of formula 1. This would be an exciting opportunity to support a local boy, assisting him to reach for the pinnacles of the motorsporting world.
Your sponsorship would be greatly appreciated, if you are able to help then please contact Andrew Mason on 07960 227410.
