Making her competitive debut season, local U13 girl shines against top athletes from the North East. Elizabeth Clay, who has been a member of Aycliffe Junior Running Club since she was 8 years old, made the jump this season to compete in top athletic Sprint events. Performing well at the Kieran Maxwell Open and Shildon Open earlier in the year, Elizabeth entered the NEYDL (North Eastern Youth Development League) with events at Morpeth and MSV in Middlesbrough finishing 2nd at 100m in both.
The season’s main event the NECAA (North Eastern Counties) Outdoor Championships held at MiddlesbroughMSV Stadium – coming through the heats, Elizabeth pulled off an outstanding run in the final and won Silver at the Championships for 100m. A couple of weeks later she repeated this performance again at the NEMAA (North East Masters Athletics Association) Tartan Games 2021 at Gateshead International Stadium taking a Silver Medal.
