Dear Sir,

At a time when the environment is discussed on a global scale by world leaders and activists alike, I’d like to highlight something a little closer to home that I feel epitomises the attitude towards looking after our world that we all could learn from – two golden girls of Woodham, who have taken it upon themselves to clean up the area they live in for the community and wildlife who share it.

Denise and Maureen can be seen throughout the week with their council issued vests, blue bags and litter pickers clearing up the woodlands, walks and communal areas around The Huntsman and Woodham Community Centre.

Both Denise and Maureen are retired but still play an active, and invaluable, role within our community.

Thank you both for the amazing work that you have done and continue to do in cleaning up Woodham.
