After receiving her B.A. (Hons) in Events Management, Carrie Howarth continued to plan and coordinate weddings, launches and many other functions for friends and family, whilst also working in marketing, including working with her father and Grandad at Newton Press. “I returned to my passion after having my first child and was pleased to accept the position as Events Coordinator at The George Hotel in Piercebridge”.

Nestled against the bank of the River Tees, in the picturesque, historical village of Piercebridge, “The George” is a stunning location, just perfect to make any wedding a dream come true. Offering a sensational backdrop for perfect wedding photos, the riverside gardens at The George will enhance your day in a very special way.

The Riverside Restaurant and Ballroom are perfect for luxury dining, special breaks, weddings, celebrations and business meetings. Inside the centuries-old building, are welcoming open fireplaces inside the bar, an all-day menu in the Snug Bar and a delicious menu in the Riverside Restaurant.

Since the 17th Century The George has stood the test of time, and has seen many stories played out within its walls. The George can easily cater for any size celebration: from an intimate party of ten, to a full-on dance-all-night celebration, with up to 180 guests.

With 32 guest rooms in the hotel, you could extend your wedding celebration. Some of your guests, especially those who are not local, may consider staying at The George for a mini-break, and see you off in style the next morning, as you head off for your romantic honeymoon.

There are lovely riverside views from many of the rooms and the gardens provide a perfect setting for wedding photographs.

All packages can be tailored to your personal requirements and a professional, experienced, friendly team will help you plan and organise your day. The George Hotel provides an atmospheric alternative to modern hotels and purpose-built conference centres for meetings, seminars, events or private functions.

Whether you’re just dropping by to sample traditional ales, grab a bite to eat or spend a little more time in this super hotel, you can rest assured that the staff are always on hand to make sure your time is memorable.

Social occasions are normally a chance to enjoy, learn new things and meet new people, which for a social butterfly like Carrie Howarth, are great opportunities. Having helped with many charity events, parties, meetings and church events in her youth, she went on to study Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan University, which is the Centre of Excellence for Events Management in the UK. During this time she planned events for local pubs, charity fund raisers, clairvoyance nights and birthday parties.

Carrie also worked at Darlington Football Club, Northern Echo Arena organising parties, weddings, meetings, conferences, trade shows and corporate match days. This was good experience learning how to run an event that suits clients’ needs.

“I am ready and keen to help and advise on any events, meetings, conferences, Christenings, parties and funerals.” said Carrie.
