NAYFC’s U9 Girls Football team “Aycliffe Angels” recently won their league following a very exciting and fun first season. The team of girls, which has risen to 20 players aged 7-9 (school years 3 & 4), celebrated the win last week, and their formation of two new teams – NAYFC Angels Yellow and Blue – with a fun tournament and surprise visit from local footballer, Chloe Ryan. Chloe played for NAYFC for a number of years before eventually progressing to play for Durham Women’s FC, and regularly visits NAYFC to speak to the girls and inspire them with her journey. Chloe presented the girls with league winners medals, and spoke to them about hard work, determination and the importance of enjoying what you do. Coaches Chris and Clare Williams explained that Chloe inspired the girls, giving them encouragement that anything is possible with the right mindset and enjoyment. We thank Chloe for paying it forward to Girls Football and are very grateful that she attended to inspire a whole new generation of female footballers. Durham Womens FC are holding a FREE skills session before their match with London Bees, this Sunday 10 March at their ground in Belmont. Their clash with Chelsea the weekend after is also not to be missed if you’re a local footy supporter. Info available at: www.durham.fawsl.com
