Dancers from Aycliffe Dance Academy had the opportunity of a lifetime this Easter! Last year the dance school based in Woodham, Newton Aycliffe provided the Lost Boys and Tinkerbell for the touring pantomime Peter Pan. The children did such a fantastic job and were so professional the production company Enchanted Entertainment contacted the Academy to see if they could provide 6 Senior Dancers for this year’s Panto; Beauty and the Beast.
After a gruelling audition process 6 girls; Rebecca Carney, Brittany Davison (understudy) Megan Elvidge, Chloe Hutchinson, Katya Seaman, Isha Shakir and Kennedy Wilson were selected. The girls had to work extremely hard learning dance routines, scenes and songs ready to perform alongside the professionals. Stars such as Lee Latchford-Evans (Steps), Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker) and Bobby Davro were just some of the celebrities the girls performed with. It was such an amazing experience, one that the Academy is proud to have been able to offer their students!
The next big venture that the dance school has is their annual dance show taking place this July. They are currently trying to fundraise for show costumes and have a Family Fun Day this Saturday 18th April. It is taking place at the Bethany Centre, Woodham DL5 4UD and is on from 10am to 2pm. There will be Cinderella, Rapunzel and Mickey Mouse attending (Meet My Mascots), Balloon Modelling (Professor Nincompoop), Face Painting, Bouncy Castle, Tombola’s and much, much more! Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun! If you would like further information about the event please contact Emma on 07908 162868.
