Sir

I write this letter in a state of anxiety. I purchased my house in the Williamfield Area in July 2017 not knowing anything about any future plans for demolishing the said property. Nor did the Land Registry or Estate Agents.

In August 2017 I went to a meeting at PCP Centre and I brought up to the Representatives of Livin that I had heard there was a plan afoot to demolish all houses in my area and rebuild. They denied all knowledge of this.

It would appear that persons giving information are not fully briefed on any plans. In September I attended a meeting in Whinlatter Place where the proposal 3 was put forward and was told this was their preferred plan, I was then asked who had told me about the plan in August.

It would appear that the people who have visited my home have no idea what is to happen to residents of the area.

Could Livin confirm or deny that they are associated with Livin Developments Ltd., who I believe have built houses in conjunction with private companies in the past.

No private companies do anything without reward.

So Livin, please state which private investors you had in mind in 2014 and now.

Also I am yet to hear from our County Councillors for this ward, neither of whom I am given to understand live in the ward.

Also I would like to hear from Councillor Clare who I am sure will remember the two proposals in the 1980’s from Durham County Council to close Greenfield Comprehensive where he was a teacher (perhaps we saved his job.)

These decisions according to the then Chairman of D.C.C. Education Dept. Councillor Tarrens were taken at the Policy and Resources Committee of the council behind close doors. It would now appear that many matters are decided by the Executive in secret. To me, anything that concerns me should be held in public and published in local press

How much land does DCC own which it would sell to Livin. They should remember it is not their land but owned by the people and so the people should be consulted on this.

I live in an area surrounded by trees, woods and green areas and a very large and well maintained Park with lakes. It is quiet and peaceful, how many private estates can boast this. I am over 70 years old and could well do without this stress and worry.

I notice that Livin has not really answered any of GARA’s questions but then they are very good at prevaricating on subjects

A combination of Proposals 1 and 2 would perhaps be a better result and if Livin can’t do this I suggest that they just drop the whole idea.

I was told that York Hill at Spennymoor had been a great success, how many houses were demolished there or were they all regenerated.
