Dear Sir,

There have been lots of problems for your readers with bus services recently! Many use a sheduled bus service with a set route listing service number and destination with stops along the way!

Due to cuts people now have to walk further carrying shopping or have problems getting to work and appointments etc.

Are they aware the County Council provide an alternative pre-bookable, Bus Service which comes to your home and takes you to a place of your choice within 5 miles?

You only have to meet one of the following three conditions: (1) There isn’t a bus stop within 600 metres.

2) There isn’t a bus within one hour of when you want to travel.

3) The journey would require a change of bus.

This service is run by a marked Mini-bus to take able bodied and disabled passengers. It runs like a Taxi but you pay bus fare rates and if you are a bus pass holder it is just 50p per journey before 9.30am and free after 9.30am, both on Monday – Friday. The service is available Monday – Friday 8.00am – 6.00pm

You can book, subject to availability, Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am – 4.30am from either an hour upto 14 days beforehand on a first come first served basis.

Journeys can be booked to start at any time within these hours, subect to availability! The service is called “LINK 2”. The Phone Number is 0191 383 5 383. “Helping Hand.”
