My name is Lileen Cuthbertson and I am standing in the Aycliffe East Ward for the County Council and Town Council for the Neville Ward. I have lived in Newton Aycliffe with my partner (David Dobson) since February 1999. I am the mother of 4 and Granny to 5, (6th due in June!)
I was born and brought up in Edinburgh until I left to join the R.A.F. when I was 17.
I married a Sailor and moved 26 times in 19 years all over the U.K. and Gibraltar. I divorced and then met Dave Dobson, fell in love with Aycliffe and wanted to settle down and bring our family up here.
I was attracted by the green open areas, trees and peacefulness (compared to the big cities). My partner is from Aycliffe Village where he grew up.
I believe community spirit is important and I will fight tooth and nail for any causes that I am involved in. I was an Inependent Councillor on Sedgefield Borough Council where I attended every meeting, took every phone call and visited my constituents when they asked for my help.
I am heavily involved with Making Changes Together, (mctdurham.co.uk), a parent group who work with Durham County Council to improve the lives of disabled children and young people. I was on the G.A.M.P as a member of the public.
