On Friday 24th August Sing-a-long-a Rocky Horror is back by popular demand as the first event of the Durham Streets Summer Festival, which spans the August Bank Holiday weekend.
After the sell-out performance in 2011, the campest cult classic of all time gets the Sing-a-long-a treatment it’s been screaming for. Featuring the film, starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Meatloaf and Richard O’Brien, it’s the most outrageous, riotous, kitsch, wonderful romp ever.
If you’ve done The Time Warp before, you’ll never have done it quite like this. Warm up your vocal chords and get ready to party Transylvanian style. Follow the on-screen lyrics and don’t forget to use your free goody-bag of props which you can pick up at the door.
Fancy dress is not obligatory but highly recommended! Make sure you join us for the very special Streets pre-show cabaret, which is bound to get you in the mood to sing and dance the night away!
Kate James, Festivals and Events Manager for Visit County Durham said: “Music and theatre remain at the heart of the ‘Streets’ programme in 2012 and one of the perennial favourites that we just had to bring back was Rocky Horror. It was a great success last year, and we’re making this showing an experience, with a pre-show cabaret in Millennium Square before the screening in the Gala”
The fun starts 8.15pm in Millennium Place and the Sing-a-long-a movie commences 9.00pm prompt.
Running time 2hrs 20mins and tickets are £15 from the Gala box office on 0191 3324041 or at www.galadurham.co.uk
