A competition called ‘4×4 Landrover’ was held on Friday 17th February at South Durham UTC. It involves students aged 11-19 building a remote control 4×4 that can get through an obstacle course. The students were in groups and they will have a record of the production of their vehicle including pictures, early designs, a production plan and so on. Students from all around the North East will take on this challenge hoping to win. Expect to see UTC students compete in this in the future.

You may be asking why this competition is being held at the UTC, and that’s what we asked too. The brilliant people behind the competition were on the phone to our engineering teacher Neil Mcgrath. Neil said that they should come down to have a look to see if it was the right place to host it and they thought it was great.
