I would like to extend a big thank you to the constituents of Sedgefield for electing me as your MP again.
Whilst Labour did well across Sedgefield, this wasn’t reflected nationally, as we failed to win over enough people.
That is why, the Labour Party are listening to the public, and doing things differently to elect our next Labour Leader.
I recently received a letter from a local primary school child, congratulating me on my win. He may be too young to vote, but to do things differently this time, we need more people of all ages, including the friends, parents, and teachers of this primary school child to be engaged with politics. The little boy told me how much of a difference the new play area in his school made to him, and I believe by opening up politics to more people, the Labour Party can make differences such as these on an even larger scale, to more people.
To do this we need more people engaged in the conversation of who is going to be our next Labour Leader. There are many of you who aren’t a member of a political party, but share our values, and it is your opinions we need to hear when deciding who should take the Labour Party forward.
You can now have your voice heard. As long as you are on the electoral register, you can sign up to be a Registered Supporter of the Labour Party, for a one off payment of just £3 (https://supporters.labour.org.uk). By doing this before the 12th of August you can be part of the conversation, and cast your vote on who should be the next Labour Leader.
Phil Wilson, MP
