A trial Kurling session for blind people was held at the Leisure Centre last week. This could turn into a more regular event if the interest and demand is there.
A Durham group have actually taken part in a national competition held last year – one of our teams achieved 2nd place (see photo). The names of the medal winning contestants are Derek Snowden, Elsie Snowden, Colin Welsh, Julie Fox with David Brown behind representing the Great Britain Kurling Association.
A competition will be taking place this year at Darlington in October.  People can chose to what level they wish to pursue the sport whether to keep it as a purely social activity or play competitively .
The next meeting of Blind Life in Durham will take place at Simpasture Court, in Newton Aycliffe on the 31st of March 1.30 to 3.30. We have an interesting chat and often manage to resolve situations and problems because of others experience and knowledge. We share information and humour as laughter can be the best medicine.
