A disabled lady, Carol Dawes was on her way to the Doctors when her Electric Scooter collided with an open metal gate in Oakfield.

She hit her knee quite badly and was screaming with the pain, and in tears.

Luckily a couple, out walking with their dog, were able to assist and stay with her for nearly an hour as she recovered.

Carol’s knee is badly bruised, and she wanted to thank the couple through Newton News, for their kindness.

We discovered Carol lives alone and has no one to help her, highlighting the need for extra care for people in her situation – especially in periods of bad weather.

We really need more people in our community to volunteer to help elderly and disabled people get to the shops, doctors surgeries and other places.
