A County Durham museum is promising an egg-citing time this Easter as it reopens to visitors with a packed programme of events and activities.
Killhope: the North of England Lead Mining Museum closes over the winter but has had to delay its reopening this year due to storm damage.
The museum will now reopen on Good Friday (18 April), when a range of new displays will also be unveiled and visitors will be able to take part in special Easter activities.
Manager, Mike Boase said: “The winter weather hit hard this year and it has taken longer than anticipated to make the site safe again.
“However, we are really looking forward to opening our doors again next month with lots of new displays for visitors to enjoy.”
One Saturday 19 and Sunday, 20 April, there will be craft sessions as well as egg jarping and egg and spoon races at 1pm and 3pm. There is a £3 charge person, which covers all activities.
Children are invited to bring along a decorated boiled egg for Easter with the chance to win a chocolate one!  Judging will take place each day
On Saturday, there will be the chance to find out more about wildlife in the North Pennines during a talk on Weardale’s natural environment. The two-hour session starts at 7pm and costs £6.50.
