Congratulations to dogs and handlers attending K9 Pursuits Dog Training classes on achieving their Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Award.
The handlers were tested on their ability to answer questions on responsible dog ownership and the Canine Code as well as demonstrating their ability to take their dogs through a number of set exercises that would deem them worthy of the award.
The tests included walking on a street with distractions from pushchairs, bikes, people and cars etc; a two minute stay exercise;
chatting with other people with dogs and being able to call their dog away from the group; a recall; food manners and being able to answer questions and hold a discussion on responsible dog ownership.
Gill Crawford, who examined the handlers and dogs, said they were a pleasure to test and that it was lovely to observe such positive handling and such happy dogs.
