Newton Aycliffe Junior Football Club launched its new Development Team for the 2012 /2013 season on 23rd November at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. Pictured above are the first 11 children to sign up for the team.
The team is run by three club members who play for the club U18’s team, Jack Slatcher (Top Left) Harry Winwood (Centre) and Connor Lyon (Right). Jack started playing for Newton Aycliffe Juniors in 2000 at the age of 5 and has represented the club teams at every age group. During last year Jack successfully completed his Referee’s Badge and was awarded the club’s prestigious Chairman’s Award in June 2012 for his commitment to the club.
Harry joined the club this season signing for the newly formed U18’s and is an integral member of the squad. Connor will be assisting whenever he is available, and is also a long serving member of the club having represented the club teams at every age group since joining at the age of 6.
Both Jack and Harry have an enhanced CRB check and are due to take an FA accredited level 1 coaching course. All three are currently studying at East Durham College on a 2 year football scholarship for a BTEC level 3 sports diploma.
The club are keen to demonstrate their commitment to the new development squad so a number of “senior representatives” were present at the first session to show their support. NAJFC spokesman
Nige Slatcher, the clubs conduct officer and U18 manager said “The club are very proud to see three of its older age group members prepared to give some of their valuable personal time to coach and develop younger children’s footballing skills. These young men are a credit to the club and themselves”
NAJFC Development Team is open to boys and girls in Reception and Year 1. In training sessions the children learn new skills, have fun, develop football skills and meet new friends. Every year the Club holds a presentation day for every age group with all team players receiving an individual trophy.
Bring your child to one of our sessions between 6.30pm & 7.30pm at the Leisure Centre on Friday 21st December then every Friday from 4th January.
