What a great week we have had putting on our first events in the newly named community centre, ‘The ARK’.

Monday saw our first Colouring Therapy alongside the Community Cafe. Our pens, that were donated to us by Crafter’s Companion, were put to creative use.

The cafe, which is open every Monday and Thursday from 10am-4pm and serves a varied menu, was welcomed into the community, serving homemade apple crumble which was made from the surplus apples we buy from FareShare.

FareShare is a charity aimed at relieving food poverty and reducing food waste in the UK. It does this by rescuing good quality surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste and sending it to almost 11,000 charity and community groups across the United Kingdom.

All profits from the cafe will go back into Newton Aycliffe, either by topping up the foodbank, helping people in crisis or putting on community events as Junction 7 is run totally by volunteers.

Thursday was our first ‘Cuppa with a Copper’, which runs alongside our Community Cafe.
